Abstract
This research aims at analysing the effects of yoga asana on the balancing a pelvic imbalance and enhancing the level of self-esteem. As far as I know, this topic is still in its burgeoning stage. This study is based on mind-body medicine that emphasizes the reciprocal relationship between mind and body. The subjects of this study were 20 women whose pelvis were unbalanced. Ten of them were assigned to an experimental group and another ten were assigned to controlled group respectively. Participants in an experimental group practiced two hour's yoga asana two times a week for 16 weeks and participants in an controlled group took 1 hour's walk 3 times a week for 16 weeks. We analysed the effectiveness of yoga asasna by using spss 15.0. The findings by this study are as follows: First, yoga asana made statistically meaningful progress in balancing asymmetric pelvis. In experimental group, meaningful changes were found out in ilium height, greater trochanter height, ischium height and ilium wideness. But taking a walk didn't make any meaningful effectiveness in balancing asymmetric pelvis. Second, the degree of self -esteem was enhanced more highly in experimental group than comtrolled group after session. The importance of this study is to prove the reciprocal relationship between body and mind and the effectiveness of yoga asana in ameliorating the pelvic imbalance and enhancing the low self-esteem.
